Congratulations to the 2016 Gibbons Team

Congratulations to the 2016 John J. Gibbons National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition team which advanced in the competition that took place on March 18–19, 2016 in New Jersey and won Best Respondent Brief. The team included competitors Alejandra Bernadet, Austin Bodnar, and Kelsey Geary.

Professor Howard Blumberg served as the Faculty Advisor, Armando Hernandez served as the Alumni Coach, and  Jaime Lapidus served as the Student Coach. The team received an incredible amount of support from their Research Assistants and fellow Moot Court members.

Congratulations to the 2016 HBNA Team

Congratulations to the 21st Annual Uvaldo Herrera Moot Court Competition team, Tayron Lopez, Hipolita Mata, and Oscar Quintero, which took place on March 16–18, 2016 in Law Vegas, Nevada.  Jim Fierberg, Esq. served as the Faculty Advisor and  Efthymios (Tim) Karkatselos served as the Student Coach.

Congratulations to the 2016 ABA Team

Congratulations to competitors Marina Gonzalez, Cristina Hernandez, and Ana Perez-Dorrego for advancing to the Top 16 in 9th Place at the 2016 ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Boston, MA.  These ladies also won Fourth Best Brief at the Boston Regional Competition!

They were led by Faculty Advisor, Howard Blumberg, Alumni Coach, Shannon Healy, and Student Coach, Dairon Montes de Oca.  We commend them for their dedication, effort, and committing most of their winter break to preparing for this competition.​

The girls would like to thank their wonderful Research Assistants, Max Pomeranz and Jason Ross, for their invaluable assistance throughout the competition.

Congratulations to competitors Matthew Carcano and Oscar Quintero for competing in the 2015 National Criminal Procedure Tournament Moot Court Competition in San Diego, California and for making the Top 16!  Prof. Howard Blumberg was the team’s faculty coach, Khristopher Salado was the team’s student coach, and Aileen Penate Hernandez served as the team’s alumni coach.

Wechsler First Amendment Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.  Prof. Howard Blumberg was the team’s faculty coach, Kelsey Geary was the team’s student coach, and Armando Hernandez served as the team’s alumni coach.

Congratulations to the 2015 Zehmer Team

Please join us in congratulating the 2015 E. Earle Zehmer Team: Julio Menache, Anthony Murphy, and Travis Tillery.

Thanks to their devoted Student Coach Marlene Brito, their dedicated Alumni Coach Armando Hernandez, and with the guidance of Professor Blumberg, our team had a successful competition.

The judges praised our competitors for their composure and performance.  Julio was praised for delivering a clear and concise argument, Anthony was applauded for defending his position zealously after a “barrage of questions,”  and Travis was complimented on his demeanor and presence.

Please also join us in thanking Matt Carcano, the team’s research assistant, who helped with the preparation of the teams phenomenal argument.  We also want to thank the members who helped judge our competitors in preparing for the competition.

Congratulations to the 2015 Orseck Team

Congratulations to the 2015 Robert Orseck Memorial Moot Court Competition team which included competitors, Tayron Lopez and Kemar Thomas. Both competitors handled themselves with poise and dignity and we are so proud of their hard work.

As first time competitors the overwhelming excitement after the first preliminary round served as a reminder of why they tried out for the Moot Court Board in the first place.

Professor Howard Blumberg served as the Faculty Advisor, Aileen Penate Hernandez served as the Alumni Coach, and Elaine Carbuccia served as the Student Coach.

The team received outstanding support from Research Assistants, Alejandra Bernadet and Joanna Kallinosis, dedicated Student Judges, Oscar Quintero and Matthew Carcano, and wonderful Guest Judges, Professors Kang, Kravitz, Lawson, Musto, Sullivan, Mr. Patel, and Dean Fonseca-Nader.

Well, your honor, we thank you all for helping the Moot Court Board Achieve Greatness.

Professor Howard Blumberg served as the Faculty Advisor, Armando Hernandez served as the Alumni Coach, and Philip Rhodes served as the Student Coach.  The team received an incredible amount of support from their Research Assistants, guest judges, and fellow Moot Court members.

The team relished the competition process but they most enjoyed the celebration that took place after the competition with great food, great conversation, and, best of all, great people.

Congratulations to Eneami Bestman, Shawn Gibbons, and Levi Wilkes for advancing to the Top 8 quarter-finals in the 2014 Burton D. Wechsler First Amendment Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.  Prof. Howard Blumberg was the team’s faculty coach, Stanislav Shamayev was the team’s student coach, and Prof. John Kang provided invaluable assistance to the team during their oral argument practices.  We are inspired by their drive, poise, and commitment to excellence, and thank them for making STU proud!

Earle Zehmer Workers’ Compensation Moot Court Competition in Orlando, FL.  They were led by Faculty Advisor, Howard Blumberg, Alumni Coach, Miriam Dehghani Yanes, and Student Coach, Monika Woodard.  We commend them for their dedication, effort, and committing most of their summer to preparing for the competition.​ They represented STU very well!
